Good to know

This 1920's crafstman-style home with small yard is a true gem. As a vintage home in a relatively quiet neighborhood, it's perfect for guests wanting more tranquility than the partying areas of SD. Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining. The vintage kitchen has what you need to prepare meals from scratch including a spice rack and condiments. The outdoor and indoor tables each seat four. The cozy living room has a soft, down-stuffed sofa that can seat 2 adults and 2 kids. This cozy little room is most comfortable when the sofa bed is in couch position, however, if you need a 3rd bed, the sofa opens up. Our 2-bedroom/ 1 bath offers the following: Main bedroom with queen bed, drawers, closet, a window, access to the bathroom (Tranquila has a second entrance to bathroom via kitchen). It has an air conditioner for Summer. Other times of year, the home stays quite comfortable with natural ventilation. The guest room offers a tall, full-size platform bed with a lot of space for luggage beneath it. It's small with no closet but has some clothing storage. It has a large window to let in natural light and beachy air. It comes with a fan for cooling. Security screen doors at front and back of house allow ocean breeze to naturally refresh the home while you're in it or away. Enjoy outdoor dining with a private outdoor space and a table that seats 4. IMPORTANT: Our single-bathroom homes are most comfortable for up to 4 guests. If you have more than 4, please assure us you'll not let the cramped quarters affect your review and please contact us for approval. You can book two or three of our side-by-side villas for up to 13 guests, book this property and the adjacent 2-bedroom with ocean-breeze deck (property ID 19384122) or add the sunny studio with private patio (property ID 6830050). A/C: available at the start of July COOL WEATHER NOTES: Please dress warm. There's a wall heater in the guest room. The warmth reaches the living room but many guests feel the need to also use a space heater. The home includes one portable heater that can be moved from room to room as needed. Expect to need a sweater indoors most evenings.

House Rules

This is a licensing agreement between Host and Lodger for transient, shared lodging at the property selected on the booking platform (“BP”) such as Airbnb, VRBO, or other website. In consideration of monies received and the promises contained herein, the owner/agent("Host") of the subject property (“Rental” or “Property”) hereby agrees to give license to use the agreed property as short-term lodging to the undersigned (herein referred to as “Lodger”) for the the agreed dates (“Term”). The experience of booking, having access to information about and staying at the Property shall be referred to as “Reservation”. The term “Invitee” is any person/animal allowed access to Property by Lodger directly or indirectly. “Loss” includes all Host losses resulting from Reservation. Rules applicable to Lodger are also applicable to Invitees. Lodger will be responsible for Invitees and liable for losses related to Lodger, Invites, and Reservation. Lodger acknowledges that this license or their occupation of Property is not a tenancy. Property laws do not apply to the license granted herein. Lodgers and invitees may be removed as trespassers immediately upon breach of this agreement. Stays deemed residential shall be governed by this agreement to the extent allowable. Check-in is 5PM or as agreed. Early check-in check can not be guaranteed unless property is reserved the night before. Same-day bookings may have delayed check-in for last-minute preparations. Lodger will photograph Property upon entry and confirm with Host that Property is clean, adequately stocked, and free of damages/hazards. Lodger agrees to report any issues and allow host to remedy these. Check-out is 10AM. Rental costs are due at booking. There are no refunds other than those required by BP. Lodger is responsible for buying consumable supplies. A $30/day fee applies to past-due payments. Returned check fees and losses will be the responsibility of Lodger. A security deposit (“Deposit”) will be held by Host/BP to ensure the terms of this agreement are met. Host may retain Deposit, charge Lodgerʼs credit card, or otherwise seek payment for Loss. Pre-paid cleaning fee covers basic light cleaning and one load of laundry per guest. Additional cleaning will be charged to guest. _ _ _ LODGER WILL DO THE FOLLOWING: CONSERVE RESOURCES, RESPECT THE NEIGHBORS/NEIGHBORHOOD, TAKE A HIGH DEGREE OF CARE OF PROPERTY, PROMPTLY REPORT PROBLEMS, AND MINIMIZE HOST LIABILITY BY ACTING IN A CONSCIENTIOUS AND SAFE MANNER; keep the premises tidy, clean, and odor-free; be present and take full responsibility for Property during Term; email host for non-urgent matters and use email text and phone call for all urgent matters; locate neighborhood emergency contact for reporting property emergencies; be responsible for utility use in excess of conservative usage (per utility guidelines); immediately notify Host of damage or injury which occurs on Property or during Term; be responsible for enforcing the rules contained herein; be solely responsible for the consequences of Lodger or Invitee behavior; submit a cancellation request for a full refund of unused nights if Host requests Lodger to vacate for reasons unrelated to Lodger; Obtain a renterʼs insurance policy with Host listed as “additional insured” to cover Property (and it’s contents) plus a minimum of one million dollars per incident of liability coverage (Host has the right to make inquiries and changes so that policy reflects the terms of this agreement); immediately inform Host of problems; Inspect all equipment prior to use and only use such equipment if Lodger has read and understands the product's manual; disclose upon reservation all people/animals who will visit Property during Term and any relationship these have with any member of the hosting team or property owner; park vehicles courteously; conserve energy by allowing in cooler/warmer outdoor air to cool/heat the home and not using heat/AC when doors/windows are open; heat/cool only the rooms occupied by registered lodgers; Use only gas heaters in the rooms with these; only heat the room up to 68 degrees when outside temperature is below 72 degrees; use air conditioner too cool the room to no lower than 75 degrees when outdoor temperature exceeds this; pay an additional $15/day for AC availabiilty in non-Summer months; be responsible for utility costs exceeding the average; if a circuit breaker trips report it to host then unplug items on the affected circuit and reset the circuit breaker (by laundry); vacate the unit and forfeit any property left in the unit if there has been a house rules violation; turn off fans,lights, appliances and electronics when people are not in the room; submit written notice of any noise complaints along with video and audio recording taken from inside Lodger’s rented unit.; _ _ _ LODGER WILL NOT DO THE FOLLOWING: Disturb, endanger, annoy or interfere with anyone, nor violate any law or ordinance, nor commit theft or waste (of utilities, supplies or anything else); grant rights to Property; alter the Property or rearrange furnishings; interact with or allow children near any animal which is not a member of Lodger’s household; invite unregistered persons/animals to Property; allow on the Property someone who has ever been a squatter, has been evicted, is homeless or has been found guilty of a crime of moral turpitude; book Property if AC is required for health reasons; smoke/vape within 25’ of any indoor/outdoor living space or in a way that impacts health of other persons/pets; attract pests or wildlife (e.g. leaving food unattended); use unapproved pest control or do anything that may harm current/future occupants (including pets); subject Property to possible infection If Lodger has experienced a possible bed bug bite; bring to Property any item that has been in a location with a known/ suspected pest infestation in the last 60 days; Lodger will not: redecorate; force windows open (W...

If you'll bring any animal to the property (including assistance animals), please describe them at the time of booking. Polite pets are welcome. Pet rent is $20/night/pet with $60 minimum. This home is comfortable for up to 4 travelers. We allow up to 6 total occupants for last-minute reservations. Reserve up to 7 of our adjacent beach-cottage-style rentals for groups of up to 31. Same-day bookings may require later check-in for last-minute cleaning. For Saturday check in/out, one weeknight will be adjusted to the weekend rate after booking. The home is rustic and pet-friendly. It comes with a little bit of sand, hair, and a bug or three. If you have environmental sensitivities or fear bugs and wildlife, please do not book this property. Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

There's a reason a lot of billionaires own homes here ;) The beauty and serenity are not often seen so close to a major city. Grocery, restaurants, and shops within 3 blocks (availability varies). About a mile to La Jolla cove, seals, downtown LJ, Bird Rock. There are hiking and walking trails not far from the home. If you travel with your dog you will appreciate the park up the street, and our local Windansea beach as well. There are great coffee shops, restaurants, convenience stores, Valley Farms Market, and massage spas within a few blocks.

The whole house and one patio/deck are available for your use. Some closets/cabinets are used to store supplies which must remain in the home.

Find us

You can do much of your getting around on foot. There is a bus stop about 250 ft away. The cove is about 1.5 miles away and beautiful to walk about. You can pass the seal beach and go on to see sea lions north of the Cove and enjoy. It's just beautiful. The village is within walking distance and has many fine restaurants, shops, and grocery as well as more relaxed eateries, a movie theater, and just about anything one could need to enjoy a vacation or long term stay without a car.
